How to delete old spam

Hi. I want to delete spam that is older than "Recent Changes". I found a discussion about how to do this using the Nuke extension but it requires editing LocalSettings[1]. I haven't edited my wiki since July 2012. Is there any other way to see changes to the wiki that were made a year ago? Lumenos1 (talk) 00:20, January 12, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, the Nuke extension is very... let's say: primitive. You cannot revert edits either, so it is very useless in case of a larger ammount of spam. The DeleteBatch extension might do a job here, but be careful with the namespaces (a.f.a.i.k. you can only use it for content pages). --Dennis (Administrator) 15:49, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
When I go to RecentChanges now I can click the url and change the number of days to 100 and it shows me back to Oct 4th 2012. I can change the the number of days to 10,000 but it doesn't show me more than about 100 days back. Is there any way to see what was added before 100 days ago? Lumenos1 (talk) 19:58, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
Hi, as far as I know, the max. amount of days you can display is set to 3000. try this, it worked on my sites some weeks ago... --Dennis (Administrator) 15:01, January 13, 2013 (UTC)
Here is my wiki set to 3000 changes in 3000 days.[2] As you can see the latest date it shows is Oct 4th 2012. Here is the history of the main page showing that it was edited in April 12th of 2012 [3] That is about 9 months ago. 3000 days would be about 10 months ago. Hi, sorry, but I actually do not know where this comes from. But as I see, the last-created user before the 4th of August (which is the earliest date in RecentChanges) was created in march 2012 (which was a long time before that (see here). I recommend you to think whether you havn't fought spam for so long, because it seems to to be no spam-user-page in the list of user pages (see here). Cheers; --Dennis (Administrator) 15:21, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
I made a mistake. 3000 days would be 100 months ago not 10. 100 months divided by 12 is over 8 years. RecentChanges is definitely not showing 8 years ago.
The Men of War wiki goes back to Oct 7th just like my wiki [4] so I don't know why you thought the max was 3000 days. Looks like the max is closer to 100 days.
Maybe this is a limitation for privacy or to keep the page from being too long (and crashing)? I would like the max to be increased to maybe 730 days (2 years) but it requires editing LocalSettings and I don't know if the other wikis prefer it to be limited to 100 days. Here are the instructions to change it if you or Yaron think we should do it. [5] Lumenos1 (talk) 05:11, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

  • How can I upload youtube video in my wiki?--Msnhinet8 (talk) 05:41, February 28, 2013 (UTC)
You can't upload YouTube videos, but you can display them using the Widgets extension. Yaron Koren (talk) 16:58, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

  • I can't upload photo in my wiki,How can I do?--Msnhinet8 (talk) 05:52, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
What did you try, and was there an error message? Yaron Koren (talk) 16:15, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
  • Yes,it view this:<You cannot upload this file, because you are currently using 101.09375 MB of file space, and uploading it would exceed the allowed quota for your site (100 MB). Sorry for the inconvenience.>--Msnhinet8 (talk) 01:46, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
This is normal, as you can only have 100MB of image storage in the basic free configuration. If you want more, you'll have to pay extra fees, see here for more details. --LIMAFOX76 (talk) 10:45, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
Or for what it's worth, you can save yourself some hassle--and money--by using media from the Wikimedia Commons. (It says so on the front page of Referata's Scratchpad; my Dixwell Dossier takes advantage of this.) --Routhwick (talk) 11:36, April 24, 2013 (EDT)

Wiki farm

Just how did you create such a sucessfull wiki farm?--Kaiser1999 (talk) 22:38, April 7, 2013 (EDT)

It depends on what you mean by "successful". :) But if you offer free wiki hosting, you'll eventually get some substantial usage. Yaron Koren (talk) 12:11, April 8, 2013 (EDT)
Ah, also can you allow unlimited everything for free? I cannot afford any of the things due to me being a teen.--Kaiser1999 (talk) 19:27, April 11, 2013 (EDT)
I can't do that - the site needs to support itself financially. But if you want to discuss a reduced payment, you can write me at yaron -at- referata.com. Yaron Koren (talk) 09:16, April 12, 2013 (EDT)
