Talk:Main Page

An archive box Archives

HelloEdit

Yes, hi, I recently made a my own wiki, but I don't seem to the admin as I cannot access the 'Special:SiteSettings' page. It tells me I'm not an admin. Is that a paid feature only. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sodisna (talkcontribs) on October 26, 2013 @ 8:56 a.m. EDT.

What's the name/URL of your new wiki so that I (or Mr. Koren) can check? Besides, once you create a Referata wiki (paid or not), you are made a founding admin/bureaucrat—and those rights alone should mean access to the site settings page in the first place. Wonder if that was a database generation error? --Routhwick (talk) 14:04, October 26, 2013 (EDT)
I figured it out, I wasn't logged in. I assumed that we would be automatically logged in. However, I have a question, is it possible to drop-down (or Collapsible Tabs) menu on the sidebar? As like the ones on Mediawiki's site. I look around and is appears it needs an extension of some sort. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sodisna (talkcontribs) on October 27, 2013 @ 10:56 a.m. EDT
If this early 2011 thread on MediaWiki.org is any indication, then you're correct. The drop-down/collapsible sidebar requires the Usability Initiative extension, which this service currently does not provide.
If nothing else, I'll bring it up in the Requested features section tomorrow (along with several more concerns) and we'll wait for Koren's say on the matter. --Routhwick (talk) 19:14, October 28, 2013 (EDT)

HelloEdit

Hello! I have been trying to create a website, but I can't. I entered e-mail address, confirmed it, and write to me that you should accept e-mail.

When are you gonna add new featured sites?Edit

By the way, what requirements (if any) are there to be on the featured sites? I'm the bureaucrat of a forked wiki from Wikia, and we've grown to around 480 pages so far. Da Nerd (talk) 19:04, October 24, 2013 (EDT)

If and when Mr. Koren gets around to it again. Thankfully, WikiApiary has a fairly comprehensive list of Referata wikis, if you'd like to check it out.
By the way, if you want to get it added, what's your site's name? (I'm running the Dixwell Dossier at this moment.)
Absent Koren and Dennis, I've been busy fighting spam on this central site for weeks—as an admin. About time Koren looked into CheckUser. --Routhwick (talk) 19:46, October 24, 2013 (EDT)
The one I was referring to was the SpongeBob Fan Wiki; I have recently founded YouTV and the Unicode Wiki. -Da Nerd (talk) 10:12, October 25, 2013 (EDT)

heeelpEdit

Updating skins usually works out just fine for me, but for some reason on my most recent wiki the pages have the new skin, but the main page doesn't. heeelp Da Nerd (talk) 16:57, November 6, 2013 (EST)

Huh, it seems that doing Ctrl+F5 solved the problem. Da Nerd (talk) 16:59, November 6, 2013 (EST)

QuestionEdit

I'm not sure anyone reads these anymore, but is there a way to have multiple URLs redirect to one wiki? Thanks! -Da Nerd (talk) 21:52, November 19, 2013 (EST)

I still do; it's only a matter of when I have any nerve to reply. By the way, you can: first, you'll have to pay for the Ad-Supported level to receive a single custom URL, then you can purchase several more in bulk from a hosting service. --Routhwick (talk) 15:57, December 18, 2013 (EST)

VideoEdit

On the Referata WikiFarm - what is the video markup like, if it is allowed. Best, MarkDilley (talk)

Hi...Edit

Can someone please add NoTitle to my wiki? I need to use it for the main page. Thanks, UnfazedEveryman (talk) 03:08, June 27, 2015 (EDT)

Disowned by site, then capcha hell.Edit

I went through the process to create an account and confirm my email. I am rd0rd0. I created Chattanooga Semantic Wiki. CSW then would not let me log in but claimed I do not exist.

I then tried to sign up again, but got the worst captchas I have ever seen, in 5 or 6 tries -- *totally* undecipherable what the text is supposed to be.

The Subject/headline box just above, BTW, is far too narrow top to bottom for the text to fit in it, so one must type it in mostly blind.

Deleting a wikiEdit

I set one of my wikis for deletion - does that free up the wiki's URL name if I decided to re-create it? --Xcb86w (talk) 17:44, July 4, 2016 (EDT)

MediaWiki:Monobook.cssEdit

I was wondering, is there a way to add wiki templates to MediaWiki:Monobook.css? P.S. Can you change my username to Gfdgsgxgzgdrc?YummyFruitSalad 18:28, April 26, 2017 (EDT)

Wiki leadership style questionnaireEdit

  4. What do ex-members of the community say about you?
  5. How do you treat ex-members of the community?
  6. How do you respond to someone saying that you should add information to, or remove information from, any credentials you may have, at this time or in the future, on your userpage?
  7. Do you now, or will you ever, have any personal information on your userpage, such as your real name, or your accomplishments in the physical world, such as an academic degree?

  9. How do you respond to unclear communication and to propaganda techniques?
  10. Do you use information about aspects of workplaces to understand people and situations on the Internet?

  14. Does your team have a higher turnover rate than rival or competing teams?
  15. The last time you switched to a wiki, how many of your peers kept in touch with you?
  16. In disputes in which you were able to win, but not easily, did you always win, or have you ever folded um'?
  17. Are you now, or have you ever been, banned, however temporarily, from editing any wiki where you now have, or ever had, the ability to ban even one person?
  18. What have you ever stopped or imposed, or now stop or impose because a vote of the community has not yet been taken on it?
  19. How do you treat disputes between editors with only IP addresses for identifiers, and those with accounts, and disputes between admins and non-admin account holders?
  20. How do you treat disputes between editors with different degrees of hard work and establishment than each other, especially when one party loses interest for approximately 72 hours during a long, complex content dispute?
  21. What happens when someone claims that you're using propaganda techniques?
