REFERATA respects each individual's right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our Web site only in the ways disclosed in this statement. This statement applies solely to information collected at REFERATA's Web site.
Part I. Information Collection
REFERATA collects information through our Web site at several points. We collect the following information about primary visitors: email address and, optionally, the user's first and last name. We collect no other personal identifying information. Also, REFERATA does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information.
We collect the following general data that is not personally identifiable information: the user's last login date.
We do not take any steps to verify the accuracy of any user information, other than email address, which we verify by sending an email to that address to complete that information.
We collect this information through registration forms and site usage; all but the email address is optional.
We employ cookies. A cookie is a small text file that our Web server places on a user's computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable REFERATA to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. Our cookies have an expiration date. Our cookies do not collect personally identifiable information.
Banner advertising appearing on our Web site collect no additional information.
Part II. Information Usage
The information collected by REFERATA will be used for aggregate purposes only, in order to generate internal statistics.
Registered users, by default, will receive additional announcements from us about services, and about events that occur within REFERATA groups they belong to. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications.
The information we collect will not be used to create customer profiles based on browsing or purchasing history. We will not supplement information collected at our Web site with data from other sources.
We currently do not plan to share data with any third parties. If we do, however, we will notify users, and they may opt out of having their information shared with third parties.
We offer links to other Web sites. Please note: When you click on links to other Web sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Their standards may differ from ours.
Our Web site may, in the future, offer message boards. Please be advised that information posted in such a venue automatically becomes public knowledge.
If our policy on information collection or uses changes, will advise you by e-mail at least two weeks before any such change occurs.
Part III. Access to Information
REFERATA makes no effort to maintain the accuracy of any information posted on the site. Users may access their own personal information and contact us about inaccuracies they may find, via our contact email. Users may request to have their information deleted from the referata database by writing to email@example.com; requests like this will usually get handled within a few days.
Part IV. Problem Resolution
If problems arise, users may contact REFERATA by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are committed to resolving disputes within a reasonable length of time.
Part V. Data Storage and Security
REFERATA protects user information with the following security measures: secure servers and firewalls (courtesy of our hosting provider), and password encryption.
